10 Questions for Artist Anna-Carien Goosen Posted on 7 April 2016
Anna-Carien Goosen is a full-time artist who has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. "The social interactions played out daily around me, sparks my interest and many paintings are an attempt to distil what I see," states Goosen. She works in a variety of media including porcelains and enamels; children's book illustration; sculpture and ceramics and 3D printing. But it is her paintings that creates a stimulating play between calculated planning and experience against spontaneous, accidental experiments. If not art, what would you do? If I had the talent, a cabaret artist. Where does your inspiration come from? Observing and participating in daily life. What's your secret obsession? Jewelry. Do you have a creative muse? Reading in a cozy spot with good coffee, lots of chocolate and my sketchbook. Blank Space by Anna-Carien Goosen at KKNK 2016 Which creative medium would you love to pursue but haven't yet? I would love to spend some time working with a goldsmith. I've tried most other creative mediums. Favorite time of the day? Late afternoon when the shadows are long. What is your most important artist tool? Is there something you can't live without in your studio? My ipad and sketchbook. What, in your opinion, is the hardest step in creating a artwork? Getting time alone in your studio with no interruptions and no distractions. After that, the rest comes naturally.
