Posted on 21 September 2023

With the objective of fundraising for the renovation of Cité Studio 8116 at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Art.co.za is partnering with SANAVA to host an online auction of artworks of members of SANAVA from 1 - 31 October 2023.

The auction features more than 90 works by well-known and established artists who are part of the SANAVA network. Works were shortlisted by Gordon Froud, SANAVA Vice-President, artist, curator and the current Head of Department of Visual Arts at the University of Johannesburg; and Elfriede Dreyer, SANAVA Vice-President, artist, curator and Extraordinary Professor in Art at Unisa.

Patrick Rulore, Family times iv (2020), Oil on canvas, 150cm x 115cm, Not framed. Estimate: R35 000 - R42 000

In the early 1980s SANAVA acquired three atelier apartments at the Cité for the benefit of South African visual artists who have been members of a branch of the association for at least two immediately preceding years. Past residents of SANAVA's three fully equipped studious at the Cité include Diane Victor, Banele Khoza, Gordon Froud, Andre Naude and many more. The residency provides professional artists the opportunity to develop their artistic skills in France and explore the cultural richness the metropolis has to offer.

The online auction will begins 1 October 2023 and runs until 31 October 2023 on the Art.co.za Online Auction platform. Registration is required to bid. Visit sanava.art.co.za for more information, preview the auction and to register to bid.
