Verge 2013 | Fried Contemporary Gallery Pretoria
Eric Duplan's new work signals a departure from his earlier working with themes of technologisation and a mapping of the urban environment as a ever-expanding network of relationships and interactions. This large commissioned body of small encaustic works considers a range of 'threshold' emotions, actions and experiences: on the verge of laughter, crying, an outburst, dreaming, and so forth. His small and intimidate 'landscapes' capture such liminal moments, almost as a series of bubbles evaporating.
