This series of works explores the tension between attraction and aversion.
The vulnerable budding female form is sheltered from the voyeur by various materials or objects which serve as a symbolic repellent to an unseen other.
Ironically, these things not only 'protect', but affect or 'wound' the girl herself as well.
The act of 'wrapping' in some of the works further signify a symbolic dressing of a wound, however, this nurturing act is subverted as it only serves to increase her affliction.
Not only does the 'wrapping' imply that it is too late and attempts to shelter her have been futile, but it highlights another level on which the work may be understood; the dynamic between the maternal instinct to protect and the adolescent's desire to break free. Here, again, the artist/mother’s role becomes an integral part of the meaning of the works.
