Chris Hani - National Heritage Monument
Thembisile Chris Hani (1942 – 2003) was the Chief of Staff of Umkhonto we Sizwe and the General-Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP). He had a mature understanding of inequality from an early age, and became an inspired activist against the apartheid regime. His role in the struggle was immense and led to him becoming a natural leader.
Hani was murdered on the 10th of April, 1993 when he was returning home. He was assassinated, and it was ruled that his assassins were right-wing extremists that were acting independently.
