The two great passions of our former custodian, the renowned artist GP Canitz, were said to have been Pinot Noir and painting. The Melck Family has continued his legacy of promoting the arts, notably through the cherished tradition of donating art prizes at Stellenbosch University, where Canitz was also a part-time art lecturer. Discover the Art Gallery at Muratie, set within the original home of Laurens Campher and Ansela van de Caab. This historic space features heritage-inspired exhibitions by local artists, with all artworks available for purchase as you wander through this uniquely atmospheric setting.
